Breshad Perriman activated from PUP list

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Wide receiver Breshad Perriman was unexpectedly activated off the physically unable to perform list Monday, but the Baltimore Ravens are unsure when the 2015 first-round pick will have a full practice.

Perriman partially tore his ACL two months ago in a noncontact drill during offseason workouts. He is expected to participate in the team's walk-through Monday afternoon.

"It's very exciting," coach John Harbaugh said. "I'm sure we'll all be holding our breath a little bit. That's just natural."

Perriman has yet to play in a game -- preseason or regular season -- since he was selected as the No. 26 pick in 2015. He missed his entire rookie season after spraining his medial collateral ligament.

Harbaugh said it's up to the team's medical staff to determine when Perriman is ready to participate in a full-speed practice. He hasn't ruled out Perriman playing in Saturday's preseason game against the Detroit Lions.

"If he can play, I want him out there playing," Harbaugh said. "If he can play, he will play."

Perriman is running well, which was an indication to Harbaugh that he was close to returning. But even Harbaugh acknowledged that he didn't know Perriman was going to be activated right away.

The next challenge is to get into shape, Harbaugh said.

"He's in great spirits," Harbaugh said. "He's worked extremely hard. I think he's really grown through all of this. He's learned to how to really work with the rehab. He's been forced to do that. We're looking forward to seeing how he looks when he comes back."

Perriman was not made available to reporters Monday.

Running back Lorenzo Taliaferro remains the only Ravens player on the PUP list.
