Two days after visiting with the team, defensive end Kony Ealy has agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys, league sources told ESPN's Field Yates.
Ealy spent last season with the New York Jets and had one sack. The Cowboys put in a waiver claim on Ealy last summer following his release by the New England Patriots, but he was awarded to the Jets.
In 15 games, including four starts, for the Jets, he had 14 tackles, nine pass deflections and an interception. He spent the first three years of his career with the Carolina Panthers and has 15 sacks overall.
He is the sixth free agent the Cowboys have signed in free agency, joining wide receivers Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson, offensive linemen Cameron Fleming and Marcus Martin and linebacker Joe Thomas.
The Cowboys had an interest in drafting Ealy in 2014 but traded up in the second round to select DeMarcus Lawrence. Now Ealy will look to join a defensive end rotation that includes Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford and Taco Charlton, last year's first-round pick.
The Cowboys have shown pre-draft interest in pass-rushers, including Boston College's Harold Landry.
