NRL Round 6 Line-ups, verdicts, tips, odds, results everything you need to know for the weekend

NRL, Rugby League

With four struggling teams paired off this weekend, it makes for some mouth-watering clashes elsewhere and some really tough tipping all round.

Saturday night's clash between the Eels and Roosters promises to be one of the games of the year, but before we even get to that we have the Knights taking on the Broncos and the Panthers facing the Storm. Once the dust settles on the Eels, Roosters clash we have the Raiders taking on the Sea Eagles to top off the weekend.  It should be a very entertaining round of footy.

Result: Latrell Mitchell took another step as a playmaking fullback on what was a brilliant night for the Rabbitohs at Bankwest Stadium. While the Warriors got the first try of the match, the Rabbitohs rumbled back to an 18-6 halftime lead and then immediately picked up where they had left off after the break. The Warriors, too, had cause to complain when David Fusitua was felled by a high tackle from Mitchell when the Warriors winger looked certain to score; the Rabbitohs capitalising on the error as they rolled back down field and Mitchell threw a supreme cut-out pass to put Alex Johnston. Instead of potentially being all locked up at 12-12, the Warriors found themselves down 18-6 and never quite recovered.

Result: The Panthers improved to 5-1 for 2020 with a hard-fought but impressive victory over the Storm at Campbelltown Stadium. Both sides maintained a high completion rate through the first half, the Panthers taking a two-point lead into halftime with a late Nathan Cleary penalty after the two sides had traded a try apiece. Brian To'o got the Panthers back out to a lead nine minutes upon the resumption, only for Branko Lee to answer for the Storm six minutes later. When Cameron Smith kicked a penalty, the match was all set up for grandstand finish; but the Panthers' decision to give Viliame Kikau a rest proved a masterstroke as the powerful back-rower returned to the field and almost immediately ran onto a Nathan Cleary cross-kick for the Panthers' third try. Cleary then iced the match with a late field goal, the No. 7 splitting two chasing defenders to give Penrith the breathing room they needed to complete the victory.

The Titans lost new fullback Corey Thompson to a failed HIA after he was collected high by Dragons winger Jordan Pereira. Dragons fullback Matthew Dufty combined well Zac Lomax for the first try of the match, before both wingers crossed for four-pointers to complete the Dragons' scoring. The back-to-back wins lift the Dragons off the bottom of the ladder and takes some pressure off coach Paul McGregor.
