English international James Graham has requested an immediate release from St George Illawarra as he seeks a return to the Super League.
The Dragons are prepared to let the veteran forward depart, but only if they can find a suitable replacement on the open market.
"St George Illawarra have been involved in discussions with Dragons forward James Graham and his management regarding an opportunity for him to return to the English Super League with immediate effect," a club statement confirmed.
"The Dragons will consider this option for Graham on the merit a replacement player is secured by the club prior to his release."
Graham joined the Dragons at the start of 2018, giving the club valuable experience through the middle of the paddock.
But at 34 years of age, Graham is certainly coming to the end of his playing career and is in the final year of his three-year contract anyway.
Graham's request has come at a particularly challenging time for the club however with the Dragons only securing their first win of the season on the weekend and coach Paul McGregor still under immense pressure to retain his job.
The Dragons face fellow strugglers the Titans at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
