RIGA, Latvia -- James Bell of Villanova had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the United States to an 83-54 victory over Canada on Monday, the opening day of the second round of the FIBA Under 19 World Championships.
Doug McDermott of Creighton added 10 points for the U.S. (4-0), the defending champion and the only undefeated team left among the 12 remaining countries.
The U.S. closed the first quarter with a 10-0 run and went on to lead 46-23 at halftime.
Canada (1-3) shot 30 percent from the field, going 3 of 22 from 3-point range.
Arizona State signee Jahii Carson of Phoenix, the only high school player on the U.S. roster, had six points and six assists.
The U.S. team plays Lithuania (3-1) on Tuesday.
