British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith and South African middle distance runner Caster Semenya are among the nominees for Female World Athlete of the Year.

Asher-Smith delivered an historic treble at the European Championships, winning golds in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay -- all in world-leading times.

Semenya was unbeaten in her nine 800m finals, winning golds at the Commonwealth Games, African Championships, Diamond League finals and Continental Cup.

The list of ten athletes has been decided by the IAAF ahead of their Athletics Awards in Monaco in December.

Among the other candidates for the award are Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech, who broke the world record in the 3000m steeplechase in July, and Nafissatou Thiam, the unbeaten Belgian heptathlete who became European champion.

Bahamanian Shaunae Miller-Uibo is also on the list after an impressive season saw her become the Commonwealth Games and Diamond League champion at 200m and run the quickest 400m in more than 12 years.

Colombian triple jump star Caterina Ibarguen and high jump champion Maria Lasitskene, who competes as an authorised neutral athlete, are also nominated alongside Croatian discus veteran Sandra Perkovic, Polish hammer thrower Anita Wlodarczyk and the Dutch European 5000m champion Sifan Hassan.

Fans will be able to vote for their favourite athlete on the IAAF;s social media channels, with their votes counting towards the eventual winner.
