Katie Boulter to face Bianca Andreescu in Japan Open quarters

Katie Boulter will face former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu in the quarterfinal of the Japan Open on Friday after beating Kyōka Okamura in the round of 16.

The match will be Boulter's fifth WTA Tour quarterfinal of the season, but her first since Eastbourne in June.

The British No. 1 beat Okamura 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday in another impressive victory as she continues her rise up the world rankings.

"I feel like I'm playing some good tennis and trying to get through these matches," Boulter said.

"Bianca is an incredible fighter, won a Grand Slam and is playing some good tennis.

"It's a free swing for me at the end of the year and I have nothing to lose."

Andreescu beat Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia in a walkover in their round-of-16 clash after her opponent retired with an injury.
