DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson says sophomore forward Andrea Robinson has leukemia and will miss the rest of the season.
Coach Gayle Coats Fulks announced Robinson's diagnosis Monday. She had been out since mid-December and is being treated at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in her hometown of Baltimore.
Coats Fulks called it "unexpected and incredibly difficult news'' for Robinson and her family, but added that "our team will be fighting with her and supporting her and her family every step of the way.''
Robinson started six of the nine games she played this season, averaging 4.6 points and 3.9 rebounds for the Wildcats.
School officials say players and coaches will wear orange -- the color of leukemia awareness -- during pregame warm-ups to honor her.
