Stanford Cardinal, UConn Huskies women's basketball teams tweak schedules for next week

No. 1 Stanford and No. 3 UConn have announced schedule changes for next week, including a potential record-breaking game for Cardinal coach Tara VanDerveer.

Stanford has added a game Tuesday at Pacific in Stockton, California. The Cardinal play at Cal in Berkeley on Sunday, and with a victory, VanDerveer would tie the late Pat Summitt of Tennessee with a Division I women's record of 1,098 victories.

The potential record could come Tuesday (9 p.m. ET, ESPN2) against the Tigers.

UConn, which had its game next week against Butler postponed because of a positive coronavirus test in the Bulldogs program, will instead play at Seton Hall in South Orange, New Jersey, on Tuesday and then host Creighton at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut, on Thursday.

The game against the Pirates had been scheduled for Thursday but was moved up two days. Both games start at 6:30 p.m. ET. The Huskies begin their season Saturday, as they host UMass Lowell at 1 p.m. ET.
