Four women's basketball games involving ranked teams, including top-10 teams Stanford, Arizona and Maryland, have been postponed due to COVID-19 protocol, it was announced Monday.
No. 2 Stanford's game at Washington, scheduled for Friday, is off because of COVID-19 issues within the Huskies' program. The Cardinal are now slated to start Pac-12 play Sunday at Washington State.
No. 4 Arizona's game at USC, also scheduled for Friday, will not be held due to COVID-19 issues within USC's program. The Wildcats had their Dec. 19 game against Texas in Las Vegas canceled because of COVID-19 issues within their own program.
Arizona also previously had its Jan. 2 game against UCLA postponed because of COVID-19 protocol with the Bruins. Arizona has not played since Dec. 17 and now has its next scheduled game Jan. 7 against Washington State.
The schools will work with the Pac-12 to try to reschedule these games.
The Big Ten had three games that were scheduled for Thursday postponed. No. 6 Maryland will not play at Illinois because of COVID-19 results within the Illini program. The Terps are still slated to play at No. 8 Indiana at 3 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.
No. 21 Iowa's game at Penn State has been called off because of positive COVID-19 test results in the Nittany Lions' program. The Hawkeyes are next scheduled to host Illinois on Sunday, but it hasn't been announced yet if that game is still on considering the Illini's COVID-19 issues.
Also, Purdue's game at Wisconsin is off because of COVID-19 concerns within the Badgers' program. The Big Ten said how all these games will be treated relating to the league's forfeiture policy will be announced at a later date.
Meanwhile in the SEC, Thursday's game between Arkansas and Ole Miss game has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the Ole Miss program. A makeup date has yet to be determined.
