DALLAS -- Texas Tech offensive lineman Baylen Brown endured an untimely setback Monday morning, right before his appearance at Big 12 media days: The big man ripped his pants.
The 6-foot-5, 309-pound lineman sat down for breakfast with his teammates and his suit pants just couldn't handle it.
"I caught 'em on the chair when I was sitting down and tore 'em, like, belt loop to zipper," Brown said Monday. "Right in the crotch area. And I noticed, trust me. Felt a little breeze.
"It was funny. Typical offensive lineman thing to happen."
Kenny Bell, Texas Tech's chief of staff, took the size 40x34 pants and got to work. He was able to find a seamstress on staff at the hotel hosting media days, the Omni Dallas.
"I thought I would have to paperclip it or safety pin it or something," Brown said. "So shout-out to the Omni on that one."
In the meantime, Brown went to media days wearing a pair of jeans with his suit.

"It got on Twitter so everybody was texting me," Brown said. "My O-line was giving me a hard time right away."
Cornerback Justis Nelson swears he warned Brown the pants would be too tight. Fortunately, his Tech teammates say Brown's jeans look actually worked.
"He pulled off the jeans better than anyone could've pulled them off," Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes said. "Not even joking. It looked pretty good."
