Today is Day 6 of our countdown of the Big 12's 25 best players entering the 2010 season. The full results are locked in a vault in an undisclosed location, but we'll be revealing one player per day until we reach the top of the list.
Remember, this isn't a list of the top 25 NFL prospects in the league. It's heavily weighted toward actual accomplishment in players' college careers, as well as the likely impact for their teams in the 2010 season.
No. 20: Jeff Fuller, WR, Jr., Texas A&M
2009 numbers: Caught 41 passes for 568 yards and seven touchdowns.
Most recent ranking: Fuller was unranked in last offseason's ranking of the conference's top 40 players.
Making the case for Fuller: Fuller may be the player on this list based most off potential. But Fuller caught 50 passes as a freshman, and missed four games -- and parts of two others -- with a fractured fibula last season. When he's healthy, he can be dominant. In the Aggies' final two games of 2009, he caught a combined 13 passes for 234 yards. All three of his touchdowns in that span came against Texas. Despite missing time for injury, he still earned All-Big 12 honorable mention from the league's coaches and could claim a spot atop Texas A&M's all-time single-season list for yardage. To do it, he'll need just 886 yards. As the top target for the conference's best quarterback, Jerrod Johnson, breaking that record is a real possibility. His combination of size (6-foot-4, 215 pounds), speed and hands along with a third year in college football in coach Mike Sherman's system should set him up for a big year.
