Historic quarter for Oklahoma State

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Not at all what we expected early here in the Fiesta Bowl.

Stanford's defense has defended OSU's weapons well, and leads 7-0 at the end of the first quarter because of it.

It's the first time Oklahoma State's been shut out in the first quarter all season. That's amazing. The Cowboys can't get open downfield, and Brandon Weeden hasn't been sharp, missing on a few throws and underthrowing Justin Blackmon into zone coverage for an interception on his first attempt.

The offense looks rusty and Weeden looks a bit confused by some of the coverages he's seen. That interception was the only time he targeted Blackmon in the quarter, too.

Oklahoma State has defended the run really well outside of a couple plays, but Andrew Luck burned the Cowboys on a play-action pass to Ty Montgomery for a 53-yard score. Look for more of that over the final three quarters.
