With signing day quickly approaching, it’s time to close the chapter on the 2013 season. We’re counting down the Top 25 players in the Big 12 in 2013 over the next few days with a list collaboratively selected by Jake Trotter, Brandon Chatmon and Max Olson. We continue the postseason countdown with the No. 22 player in the Big 12.
No. 22: Jeremiah George, LB, Iowa State
Previous ranking: George was not ranked in the blog’s preseason list of the Big 12’s Top 25 players.
Making the case for George: Iowa State’s team MVP flew under the radar nationally but was undisputedly one of the league’s best linebackers as a senior. George finished with a Big 12-leading 133 tackles and ranked fourth in FBS with 11.1 per game.
For that, George earned much deserved All-Big 12 honors. He led the Cyclones in tackles for loss, sacks, forced fumbles and interceptions, and all of those TFLs came in conference play. The guy is a 5-foot-11, 220-pound missile, and an NFL organization would be wise to take a chance on him for the 2014 season.
No. 23: Eric Striker, LB, Oklahoma
No. 24: Ty Zimmerman, S, Kansas State
No. 25: Calvin Barnett, DT, Oklahoma State
