Another baseball season is in the books and while Westminster Christian ended up partying like it was 2011, Rockwood Summit pulled off a major upset en route to making program history.
Rockwood Summit knocked off favorite Liberty by scoring 10 runs on 10 hits before beating Parkway North for its first Class 4 crown and the No. 1 ranking in the state. Meanwhile, Westminster capped an unbelievable 26-game win streak by repeating as Class 3 champs.
Here are the final rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):
1. Rockwood Summit (Fenton) 21-11 (7)
Falcons rallied for 4-3 win against Parkway North to take home Class 4 crown. After losing their final two regular season games, the Falcons defeated previous No. 1 teams Vianney and Liberty en route to the title.
2. Westminster Christian (St. Louis) 29-3 (2)
Wildcats capped season with 26th straight win and second straight Class 3 title by beating Lutheran South 10-4.
3. Liberty 28-4 (1)
Bluejays entered the playoffs as the favorite but fell to Rockwood Summit 10-3 in the Class 4 semifinals before holding Willard in the third-place game.
