Five-star OT Solomon Thomas flips from Florida State to LSU

LSU landed a major signing day victory on Wednesday when the Tigers completed the flip of five-star Florida State offensive tackle pledge Solomon Thomas, No. 13 in the 2025 ESPN 300.

Thomas, ESPN's No. 3 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, had been committed to the Seminoles since Dec. 2023 and remained as the top-ranked prospect in Mike Norvell's 2025 class amid a flurry of Florida State decommittments this fall. But Thomas' pledge grew shaky in the final weeks before the early signing period as he took late November trips to Florida and LSU, and he now lands with the Tigers as the top-ranked signee in Brian Kelly's 2025 class following his flip Wednesday afternoon.

At the end of a tumultuous fall, Florida State charted a positive start to the early signing period Wednesday, securing top-300 flips from Georgia running back pledge Ousmane Kromah (No. 140) and UCF wide receiver commit Jayvan Boggs (No. 275) while holding onto the commitment of four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn (No. 224) despite Georgia's efforts to flip him late in the cycle.

But Thomas' exit marks an insurmountable blow to a Seminoles class that has torpedoed over the past three months. Thomas' decommitment represents the 10th departure from Florida State's incoming class since the start of the regular season, including eight ESPN 300 prospects who left the program's 2025 class as the Seminoles stumbled to a 2-10 finish this fall.

After Thomas, four-star defensive end Javion Hilson (No. 77), who signed with Missouri on Wednesday, represents the Seminoles' highest-rated decommitment this fall. Three former Florida State pledges -- running back Byron Louis, quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. and offensive lineman Daniel Pierre Louis -- landed with in-state rival Florida, while offensive guard Peyton Joseph signed with conference foe Georgia Tech on Wednesday.

Thomas' flip to LSU delivers a strong finish to a Tigers class that had lost a handful of its own key commitments since the summer, headlined by top overall prospect and five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood's flip to Michigan last month and the flip of four-star cornerback Kade Phillips (No. 95 in the ESPN) to Texas on Tuesday.

Thomas joins No. 2 athlete D.J. Pickett (No. 16) as the second five-star signee in LSU's 2025. He'll now lead an offensive line class that includes pledges from fellow top-300 offensive tackles Carius Curne (No. 130) and Tyler Miller (No. 227). No. 1 running back Harlem Berry (No. 26 in the ESPN 300) was another among the Tigers' top signees on Wednesday.
