Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence ran in for a touchdown with 6:41 left in the first quarter to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead against LSU in the College Football Playoff national title game on Monday (watch on ESPN and ESPN App).

It was Lawrence's ninth rushing touchdown this season after having just one in all of 2018. Clemson has won its past 50 games when it scores first, dating back to the start of the 2015 season.

Earlier on the scoring drive, Lawrence connected with Braden Galloway for 42 yards, but Tee Higgins was hit with an illegal block penalty to push Clemson back.
