Dequan Finn has won Baylor's starting quarterback job, sources confirmed to ESPN's Dave Wilson and Adam Rittenberg on Monday.
Finn was a three-year starter at Toledo, where he was the MAC's most valuable player last year after he threw for 2,657 yards with 22 touchdowns to nine interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 206-pound fifth-year senior also ran for 563 yards and seven touchdowns, helping lead to an 11-2 season and a MAC championship. He has played in 45 games in his career, starting 32, and has thrown for 7,074 yards and 63 TDs and rushed for another 1,840 yards with 25 scores.
After ranking 101st nationally in offense last year, Baylor coach Dave Aranda parted ways with offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes and his NFL-style offense, and moved to Jake Spavital and the Air Raid.
Blake Shapen, who started 23 games for the Bears over three seasons and was honorable mention All-Big 12, transferred to Mississippi State.
Finn beat out redshirt juniors Sawyer Robertson, a Mississippi State transfer who started four games last year at Baylor, and RJ Martinez, who appeared in three games last season.
Baylor opens the season Aug. 31 in Waco against Tarleton State at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+).
247 Sports first reported that Finn had won the job.
