An accelerated path

Ed Shields saw the potential early. So did Donnell Douglas.

Shields hoped it would translate to success on the football field as head coach at Suitland High School in Forestville, Md. Douglas saw it and took wide receiver Taivon Jacobs to various football camps as part of the Love Thy Neighbor Camp Tour, founded by former NFL star Troy Vincent.

Jacobs' potential translated into a full ride to Ohio State. He committed to the Buckeyes on Thursday.
