Atlanta United FC added to its midfield Monday, acquiring Brazilian Matheus Rossetto from Athletico Paranaense, using targeted allocation money to complete the deal.

The 23-year old has played only with Paranaense in his brief career, seeing action in 84 games for the club, and has five goals in 71 league matches. He joins Emerson Hyndman in the midfield after the Dallas native signed a multi-year contract in December. Last season, Hyndman was on loan from AFC Bournemouth in England.

Atlanta United is adjusting its roster after players including Darlington Nagbe, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez and Tito Villalba departed.

The 25-year-old Villalba was United's first Designated Player and made an immediate impact in the expansion club's debut season in 2017. He started all 34 matches, tallying 13 goals and 11 assists.

Atlanta United has a CONCACAF Champions League home-and-home set against FC Montagua of Honduras on Feb. 18 on the road and Feb. 25 at home. It opens its 2020 MLS schedule on Feb. 29 at expansion Nashville SC.
