Zidane wins a trophy every 19 games, Messi's free-kick record

Sack Sarri or sell Ronaldo? Juventus' big dilemma (1:58)

The Gab and Juls podcast forecast the future for Juventus and Sarri which might not include Ronaldo. (1:58)

What a midweek it has been! There was plenty of great football, from which we bring you the best numbers:

La Liga

We start with La Liga this time, because their 2019/20 champions have been crowned. Real Madrid are the kings of Spain, a 2-1 win over Villarreal sealing the deal. Barcelona, meanwhile, slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Osasuna. Salt, meet wound. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, continued their resurgent run with a 2-0 win over Getafe.

This was Zinedine Zidane's 11th trophy as manager of Real Madrid. He has been at the helm for 209 games. That's a trophy every 19 games. Only the legendary Miguel Munoz has won more titles in the club's history, with 14, and he was in charge of Los Blancos for 605 games.

Last matchday, Ferland Mendy became the 21st different player to score for Real Madrid this season. That is the most different scorers for a team in a single season in the 21st century. No wonder Zidane wants to give them all a Ballon d'Or.

Sergio Ramos and Marcelo now have 22 career titles each with Real Madrid, breaking a tie with Manuel Sanchís for second-most in club history. Only Paco Gento (23) has won more.

This is Real Madrid's 34th La Liga title, comfortably the most in history. Barcelona come in second with 26.

Speaking of Barca, they have collected 79 points in La Liga this season after 37 matches, their lowest tally at this stage of the season since 2007/08 (64), when they finished third.

Premier League

Arsenal beating Liverpool 2-1 headlined an entertaining midweek that also saw all the three teams battling for the last two Champions League spots register wins. Chelsea beat Norwich 1-0, Leicester saw off Sheffield 2-0 and Manchester United overcame Crystal Palace by the same score. A point separates third-place Chelsea from the other two.

Alexandre Lacazette is the first Arsenal player to score and assist against the side starting the day top of the league since Thierry Henry vs Manchester United in January 2007.

Reiss Nelson is the fifth different player aged 20 or under to score for Arsenal in the league this season. This is the most of any team this season. (The others being Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Joe Willock.)

It's 2020, and Danny Ings is the 20th different Englishman to score 20 goals in a single PL season.

Pep Guardiola has won 111 of his first 150 PL games, the most of any coach at this stage of their career in the competition. In second place is Jose Mourinho with 105, while Jurgen Klopp with 92 and Sir Alex Ferguson with 90 round off the top four.

Everton vs Aston Villa is the most played fixture in English top-flight history (Aston Villa W - 74; Everton W - 76; Draw - 54).

Serie A

Juventus drew, but chasers-in-chief until now Lazio drew as well. While the Bianconeri are still six points clear at the top, Lazio have now slipped to fourth, with Inter Milan's 4-0 win over SPAL and Atalanta's 6-2 win over Brescia propelling them to second and third, respectively.

A quirky one -- Juve's Danilo is the second player to score on his birthday in this Serie A season, after Sampdoria's Gaston Ramírez in December.

Atalanta have scored at least six goals in four different matches, a record in the current season in the top five European Leagues.

They are, in fact, the the first team to do so since PSG in 2017-18. Only two teams have ever had more six-goal games in a single season in the past decade -- Real Madrid (six in 2010-11) and Barcelona (five each in 2015-16 and 2014-15).

Another fantastic stat about one of Europe's most exciting teams. Only three teams in Serie A's history have scored more goals than Atalanta's 93 after 33 matchdays -- Torino, 105 in 1947/48; AC Milan, 103 in 1949/50 and Milan once again, 101 in 1950/51.

Alexis Sanchez has been involved in seven goals since the Serie A restart (one goal, six assists). Only Cristiano Ronaldo (9) and Andrea Belotti (8) have had more in that time period.

Ronaldo-Messi watch

Cristiano Ronaldo's record-equalling run of scoring in nine straight away games came to a halt at Sassuolo. Lionel Messi did score but couldn't prevent a defeat, in a game that will be remembered more for his post-match comments than anything he did on the field.

Messi has scored five free-kick shots in La Liga this season, more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues. He has been atop this chart in four of the last five seasons (note -- in 15/16, he shared it with Dani Parejo and Miralem Pjanic).

The number of games Ronaldo has gone with no goals despite having taken 10 shots. It's the most by a player in Europe's top five leagues, well ahead of Messi (5) and Lorenzo Insigne (3).
