Grzegorz Krychowiak buyout clause puts Sevilla future in doubt

Sevilla club president Jose Castro says he knows he cannot keep his top players at the club if their buyout clauses are met, feeding speculation that Arsenal are mulling over paying the €30 million needed to secure the La Liga club's midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

Poland international Krychowiak joined Sevilla from Reims for €5 million last summer, and immediately became a key player for Unai Emery's side -- scoring in the final as they won a second successive Europa League trophy, and helping them fifth in the league.

Through the 2014-15 season there were reports that Europe's biggest clubs were interested in the 25-year-old, with Real Madrid and Arsenal among those mentioned in the speculation, and the campaign ended with Krychowiak being named by La Liga's writers to the official best XI.

Reports in both the UK and Andalucian press say that Krychowiak has signed with British-based agency Stellar Group in a move which could help see a deal done. Southampton are also reportedly interested, but unlikely to meet the €30 million clause.

Rojiblanco club chief Castro told his club's TV channel that, with right-sided player Aleix Vidal having left for Barcelona last week for an initial €18 million, he now wanted to keep the rest of his club's top players at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.

"You can never say never as football is football," Castro said. "We are not going to listen to offers for our top players. If someone pays their clause there is nothing we can do, but we do not want that to happen. We want to build a team on the base that we have, to keep enjoying our team, in our stadium."

Castro also spoke about speculation linking Sevilla with a move for Chelsea attacker Gael Kakuta, who impressed on loan at Rayo Vallecano last season, and Dnipro winger Yehven Konoplyanka, whose contract with the Ukrainian club has ended but who has many other suitors throughout Europe.

"[Kakuta] is very close, and we can say something in the coming hours," Castro said. "With the Ukrainian, we are working on it, the same as other areas of the pitch. This has just begun, and we have time to build an exciting squad to keep growing."
