Bournemouth could step up interest in Stoke defender Marc Wilson - sources

Bournemouth are lining up a move for unsettled Stoke City defender Marc Wilson, sources have told ESPN FC.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes revealed earlier this week he is prepared to let Wilson leave the club after slipping down the pecking order.

"It's fair to say that sometimes players can be frustrated with a perceived lack of opportunity and that's the case with Marc," Hughes said. "He's maybe expressed himself in the wrong way and it's fair to say that Marc probably feels his future lies elsewhere and it's fair to say I probably agree with him."

Wilson made just one Premier League appearance last season and the Republic of Ireland international is frustrated at his lack of game time.

The 28-year-old did not feature much in preseason and was left out of the squad for Saturday's opening Premier League game of the season at Middlesbrough, which finished as a 1-1 draw.

Bournemouth are now ready to offer Wilson a way out of Stoke as Eddie Howe's sees his versatility to play in defence and midfield as a key addition to his squad.
