Manchester City defender Jason Denayer joins Sunderland on loan

Sunderland have signed Manchester City defender Jason Denayer on a season-long loan.

Denayer, who featured for Belgium at Euro 2016, will be given the chance to secure first-team football with David Moyes' Sunderland.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and the Turkish club had expressed an interest in signing him again this summer.

Sunderland won the race for his services, though, offering Denayer the chance to secure Premier League experience at the Stadium of Light.

The centre-back had been named the PFA Young Player of the Year during a loan spell with Celtic in the 2014-15 season, when he won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup.

He won the Turkish Cup during his time with Galatasaray.
