Marseille loan signing Clinton Njie 'learned a lot' from year at Spurs

Clinton Njie has claimed he "learned a lot" from his injury-hit season at Tottenham Hotspur after making his loan move to Marseille.

Njie, 23, made just 14 appearances last term after joining Spurs in an estimated €17 million move from Lyon in Aug. 2015.

The Cameroon international's maiden campaign in England was cut short by a knee injury sustained in December and, though now fit again, he was allowed to leave White Hart Lane and join Marseille on a season-long loan, with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou going the opposite way on a permanent basis this summer.

Despite failing to establish himself at White Hart Lane, Njie insists he is not disappointed by his experience on the opposite side of the Channel.

"I think, first of all, in England there aren't any 'small' games," he told OM.net. "Everyone tries to win. There is really that spirit of trying to win matches.

"I think mentally I learned a lot with my injury and my situation last season. I think I have really learned a lot mentally."

Njie's arrival means Marseille could field a forward line entirely comprised of loanees from English clubs, with Bafetimbi Gomis of Swansea City and Florian Thauvin of Newcastle United also at the Stade Velodrome looking to reinvigorate their faltering careers.

And Njie, who previously played with Gomis at Lyon, is ready to hit the ground running.

"I think I'm ready physically," he said. "I started preseason with Tottenham. I have a little injury, but I've been training normally for a week or so. I don't think I have too much to worry about on that front, I'm just lacking minutes on the pitch."
