Francesco Totti: Roma keen to sign Sampdoria's Patrik Schick

Francesco Totti has said Roma hope to convince Sampdoria forward Patrik Schick to join them instead of Inter Milan.

Speaking after receiving the UEFA President's Award in Monaco on Thursday, Totti, now a Roma director, told Sky Sport Italia: "We are evaluating Schick and we'll see if he becomes a Roma player -- he is suited to the club and we want him."

However, Inter are reported to be 21-year-old Schick's preferred destination.

The Czech Republic international saw a proposed move to Juventus fall through earlier this summer after he failed a medical.

He has returned to full training after Sampdoria's medical team confirmed the cardiac problem discovered during tests in Turin had been resolved, but Juve are not expected to make another bid for a player who had agreed terms with them.

Totti said his new role involved working with sporting director Monchi to identify and approach transfer targets.

But he revealed that language could sometimes be a problem, explaining that he had sent Schick a message but "didn't really understand" the reply because Schick had written it in English.
