Italy international Simone Zaza has brought an end to speculation about his future by extending his contract with Sassuolo until 2019.
Zaza, 23, who entirely became a Sassuolo player last summer when they bought out the other half of his registration from Juventus, was being linked with a move away from the Serie A club in the coming summer.
He has scored six goals in 12 games this season and debuted for Italy in the Euro 2016 qualifier against Norway, netting his first goal for the Squadra Azzurra in that 2-0 win in Oslo.
His previous contract with Sassuolo was due to expire in 2016, although Juventus do still have an option to buy Zaza back next summer for a set fee of 15 million euros, rising to 18 million if they decide to buy the Italian in 2016.
Sassuolo announced the deal via Twitter on Wednesday, the day after his goal helped them to a memorable 2-1 win at AC Milan, a result which took the club to within four points of the top six in Serie A.
"I'm more than certain that I'll be staying here," Zaza told reporters at the San Siro on Tuesday.
"At least this year for sure because that's what the club wants and it's what I want too. My aim is to score goals and play well and not let my place in the Italy squad get taken away from me. I need to improve a lot and this is the ideal place to grow." Tweet:
