Bryan Oviedo to return to training in August, Roberto Martinez says

Bryan Oviedo is set to return to full training with Everton at the beginning of August, manager Roberto Martinez said.

The versatile left-sided Oviedo, who can play at full-back or on the wing, broke a bone in his right foot during a training session last week.

Martinez told a news conference last Thursday that the 25-year-old would miss the rest of the season, as well as Costa Rica's matches at the Gold Cup in North America in July.

However, the manager is hopeful that Oviedo will be fully fit when Everton begin their next Premier League campaign in August.

Martinez told Everton's website: "The reality is now that this summer is going to be critical in terms of trying to recover quickly. Joining in pre-season is going to be in stages.

"We expect that in the first part of pre-season, he will be on an individual programme and then he will probably join in with the group at the beginning of August.

"But that's still all up in the air because it will depend on how he reacts in the next two to four weeks, then we will know where he is.

"Obviously, though, we hope Bryan will be fully fit and ready to work at the start of the Premier League season."
