Aaron Lennon joins Everton from Tottenham on three-year deal

Everton have signed winger Aaron Lennon from Tottenham for a reported £4.5 million on a three-year deal.

The Toffees submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League before the transfer window closed at 6 p.m. UK time on Tuesday, giving them an extra two hours to complete the deal.

Lennon, 28, spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park, and manager Roberto Martinez was keen to bring him back permanently to add to his attacking options.

The winger, who has been capped 21 times by England, scored two goals in 14 appearances for Everton last season. Tottenham initially wanted £9m for Lennon, but the Toffees were not willing to pay that much.

Manager Roberto Martinez told Everton's website: "We are delighted to welcome Aaron back to Everton. We know we are getting a player our fans know inside out.

"He had a major role in the second half of our season and we're looking forward to Aaron kicking on and continuing to enjoy his football, as well as being the productive player we know he can be.

"He is well-respected in the dressing room. His experience in the Premier League is immense and he will immediately add to our squad and to the ambition we have as a club."
