Manchester City are among several Premier League clubs watching Hannover 96 goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, sources have told ESPN FC.
Zieler, also being watched by a number of German clubs, is one of the most highly-rated keepers in the Bundesliga despite his side being bottom of the table.
The 27-year-old is expected to be part of the Germany squad at the European Championships in 2016, having previously been a back-up to Manuel Neuer in the 2014 World Cup-winning squad.
Zieler 's agent Gunther Neuhaus believes the former Manchester United youth keeper would be ready for the challenge of competing with England's Joe Hart if he was to move to City in the summer, but said the German would not be interested in being a back-up player.
Neuhaus told ESPN FC: "He would certainly be a strong enough keeper to play for a team like Manchester City. If it was an open field -- not just as a back-up -- then this could be an interesting option for Ron.
"But he's currently under contract with Hannover 96."
Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, who will take over at City in the summer, saw the keeper put in a fine performance as Hannover were beaten 1-0 by the champions.
Zieler is expected to leave if Hannover are relegated at the end of the season -- they are seven points from safety with 13 games remaining -- and will be available for around €3.5 million, according to German newspaper Bild.
If he was to move to the Premier League he would qualify as an English-trained player, having spent five years at United in his early career.
