Diafra Sakho will miss West Ham's FA Cup quarterfinal replay against Manchester United -- but manager Slaven Bilic insists it is through injury and not as a disciplinary measure.
Sakho withdrew from Saturday's Premier League meeting against Arsenal, citing a knee injury in the final training session before the game as the reason.
Bilic had preferred Andy Carroll over the Senegal international for the London derby, saying it was "the best team for today," and he was vindicated as Carroll hit a hat trick in the thrilling 3-3 draw.
But Sakho had already posted an early-morning message on social network Snapchat which read: "When I'm hated I don't give a f---, I do everything to be more hated."
The message was interpreted as relating to his lack of involvement against the Gunners but it has since been claimed the post was not in any way related to West Ham -- or Bilic's decision to pick Carroll ahead of Sakho.
And the Hammers boss revealed on Tuesday morning that the 26-year-old will not be involved against United on Wednesday because of the injury.
"The situation is very simple," he said.
"He reported an injury after training on Friday and then he was not in the squad, yesterday he had a scan and it reported a little bit of a problem.
"He is out for hopefully one week, not more than that, but for this week he is definitely out and hopefully he will be back on Monday."
Carroll's display on Saturday when he dominated Arsenal defender Gabriel to score his three goals, has seen calls from some quarters for him to be involved in England's squad for the forthcoming European Championships.
Bilic again stopped short of throwing his weight behind the idea but believes Carroll is a "very special" player, having seemingly overcome his lengthy injury troubles.
"I don't know about the England squad," Bilic said of Carroll.
"I said my opinion about him and it doesn't vary to most of the football people's opinion of Andy - when he is fit and in form he is very special and gives you something, he is different.
"It is hard to mark him and hard to cope with him. For us he has done really good every time he is fit. He doesn't have to score, his presence on the pitch gives us another quality and dimension."
