Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel: Ask about my future plans after Euro 2016

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel said "ask after the Euros" when questioned about his club future ahead of Slovakia's game against England on Monday.

Last week, sources told ESPN FC that Skrtel was on the verge of a move to Fenerbahce.

The Turkish club have tabled an offer of €7 million (£5.5m) for the defender, and Liverpool have accepted it with Skrtel well down the pecking order in Jurgen Klopp's plans.

But the 31-year-old, who started only four matches for Liverpool after January, told a news conference: "I'm fully focused on the national team and the game.

"Questions about my future, ask me after the Euros."

Asked whether a good performance against England could affect his future, he added: "I don't think one game can change a player's career.

"One game can't change that much, but I'll do my best to put in a good performance, to be successful.''

Centre-back Skrtel, who joined Liverpool in 2008, found himself behind Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho in the second half of last season, with veteran Kolo Toure also ahead of him in Klopp's plans.

The summer arrival of Cameroon defender Joel Matip from Schalke has increased competition for places, and Liverpool are now willing to let Skrtel leave after eight years at Anfield.
