UEFA have hit Besiktas with a €34,000 fine (approx. $40,000) for the heinous crime of letting a cat interrupt their Champions League round-of-16 tie against Bayern Munich back in March.
Referee Michael Oliver had to halt play for a couple of minutes at the Vodafone Arena when the ginger feline came nonchalantly trotting out onto the pitch in the second half of the match.
Well, this is a fine piece of sports commentary if ever I've heard it. #bayern #ucl #besiktas #cats pic.twitter.com/aBFSQ2J72w

UEFA subsequently charged Besiktas, finding them guilty of "insufficient organisation" as well as several other disciplinary breaches, including objects being hurled from the terraces and stairways being blocked by fans.
The Turkish club were well and truly walloped on the night, losing 3-1 to Bayern to ensure they were jettisoned from the Champions League with an 8-1 aggregate defeat.
