Chelsea and Manchester City fined over fracas after Sergio Aguero tackle

Chelsea have been fined £100,000 and Manchester City £35,000 following their bench-clearing fracas during their game on Dec. 3.

The melee started after City striker Sergio Aguero's reckless tackle on Chelsea defender David Luiz, while Fernandinho was also sent off for shoving Cesc Fabregas over the advertising hoardings.

An FA statement said: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Manchester City and Chelsea have been fined £35,000 and £100,000 respectively after both admitted a breach of FA Rule E20(a).

"The two clubs were charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

"It followed an incident in the 95th minute of the game on Saturday 3 December 2016."

Chelsea were already on a warning over previous similar breaches of FA rules after being fined £375,000 -- later reduced to £290,000 on appeal -- for actions against Tottenham in May.

A report last week claimed Chelsea could see a point deduction if the FA decided to impose a harsher punishment for their fifth breach in the last 19 months, but that did not come to pass.
