Minnesota signs former Timbers defender Jermaine Taylor

MLS expansion side Minnesota United continues to bolster its roster ahead of its maiden 2017 season.

A day after signing Brazilian midfielder Ibson and defender Brent Kallman, the club announced on Tuesday that it had inked deals with midfielder Bernardo Anor and Jamaican international defender Jermaine Taylor.

Anor, Ibson and Kallman played for the Loons in 2016, their final year in the second-tier North American Soccer League.

Taylor arrives in Minnesota boasting six years of MLS experience. He spent 2016 with the Portland Timbers, making 21 starts, after five seasons with the Houston Dynamo. The 32-year-old also won 84 caps for the Reggae Boyz since making his senior debut in 2004.

Anor, 28, spent all of last season with United on loan from top flight Sporting Kansas City, although he was sidelined by an ankle injury for much of it. Before that, the Venezuelan spent four years with the Columbus Crew.

Ibson is entering his third year with the Loons. The Brazilian playmaker, 33, was an NASL Best XI selection in 2015 after stints with the likes of Porto and Spartak Moscow, as well as Corinthians, Santos and Flamengo in his home country.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Kallman becomes the first native Minnesotan on United's MLS roster. He originally signed with the club in 2013 after four seasons at Creighton University.
