Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro has told Germany winger Serge Gnabry to stay at the club for at least another season to "gather experience."
Gnabry, 21, joined Bremen from Arsenal during the final days of the summer transfer window and has scored 10 goals and provided three assists.
His performances -- which also included a hat trick on his Germany debut versus San Marino -- have not gone unnoticed, and he has been linked with a move away from Bremen, where he reportedly has a €10 million release clause in his contract.
"He should stay here for a while and gather experience," Pizarro, who has dropped behind his teammate in the pecking order, told reporters. "He can still join a big club after that."
Bremen are currently involved in a relegation battle in the Bundesliga table, although they recently secured consecutive wins against Mainz, Wolfsburg and Darmstadt and are now two points clear of the relegation playoff spot.
However, Pizarro has yet to decide his future beyond the summer.
The 38-year-old -- Bremen's all-time top scorer with 103 goals -- said he will enter upcoming contract talks with a clear plan.
"Of course, it is important that I play. That's what I enjoy," he told reporters. "It wouldn't be nice to sit on the bench as a 39-year-old."
Elsewhere, Bremen announced on Wednesday that British company Umbro will replace Nike as the club's official supplier from 2018-19 onward.
