England's Lauren James withdraws from squad with calf injury

Chelsea's Lauren James has withdrawn from the England squad ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Germany and South Africa due to a calf injury.

James was absent from Chelsea's squad for their London derby clash against Tottenham on Sunday evening. A statement from the FA confirmed that James will stay with the club for treatment.

James was ruled out of the previous England camp in July, missing the crucial Euro 2025 qualifiers against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.

England secured passage to the summer tournament in second place behind France.

No replacement will be called up at this time, the FA said.

The remaining 24 players will report to St. Georges Park on Monday in preparation for a repeat of the Euro 2022 final against Germany on Oct. 25 at Wembley Stadium and South Africa in Coventry on Oct. 29.
