Bud Cauley breaks ribs, left leg in Friday night car accident

Bud Cauley was injured in a car accident following the second round of the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, on Friday, the golfer's management firm, IMG, told Golf Channel.

According to the report, Cauley was hospitalized with five broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured lower left leg. He was a passenger in the vehicle when the accident occurred at about 11 p.m. ET.

Cauley did not make the cut at the Memorial, posting rounds of 77 and 76.

According to Golf Channel, Cauley was set to play in U.S. Open qualifying on Monday in Memphis, Tennessee, but he has since withdrawn.

The 28-year-old Cauley has made 11 cuts in 16 events this season, with top-10 finishes at the Safeway Open and The RSM Classic. He is 82nd in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Fellow golfer Justin Thomas, who played collegiate golf with Cauley at Alabama, sent his well wishes to Cauley on Twitter:

"Not many people I love more in this world than my guy BC. Was a rough nights sleep last night. Glad to see and hear he's been doing better. Prayers are needed and all we can do is hope for the best! Get well soon, homi."
