Gregg Marshall agreed to a contract extension that will keep him as coach of Wichita State through 2018, the school announced Thursday.
Marshall's contract was extended with an automatic one-year rollover each year, athletic director Eric Sexton said. Previously, Marshall made $750,000 a year in a contract that ran through the 2013-14 season.
"I believe coach Marshall has and will continue to coach Wichita State to be a national contender, and I want him to be here for a long time doing just that," Sexton said.
Marshall led the Shockers to the NIT title last season, beating Alabama to finish 29-8, a school record for wins in a season.
Despite interest for coaching openings this offseason, Marshall said in April that he wanted to stay in Wichita.
"I just got a great situation here," Marshall said. "We have a great group of guys coming back and another group coming in, and it's just a very nice, easy place for us to be right now.
The former Winthrop coach had been linked to the job at North Carolina State and recently turned down an invitation to interview at Texas A&M.
