Justin Morneau out with stiff neck

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Justin Morneau has been scratched from the Colorado Rockies' lineup because of a stiff neck.

The first baseman had been set to bat sixth Thursday night against the Texas Rangers. Jordan Pacheco, who was in the original lineup at catcher, played first base instead. Michael McKenry was inserted at catcher.

The Rockies say Morneau is day to day.

Morneau was hitting .331 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs.

During the 2011 season, Morneau had operations on his neck, left knee and right foot. He missed the second half of the 2010 season because of a concussion and then had a recurrence during the 2011 season after diving for a ball.
