Seattle Mariners activate Mitch Haniger after stint on DL

The Seattle Mariners activated outfielder Mitch Haniger from the 10-day disabled list before Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Haniger had been sidelined since April 25 because of a strained oblique muscle. He was off to an outstanding start this season before the injury, batting .342 with four home runs and 16 RBIs in 21 games.

Haniger, 26, started in right field and batted second in Seattle's lineup for Sunday's series finale against Toronto.

The Mariners optioned outfielder Boog Powell to Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding roster move.
