Yankees 4, Guardians 2
Series tied 2-2
Gerrit Cole gave the Yankees exactly what they needed in Game 4, working seven innings and handing off to New York's high-leverage bullpen contingent. Harrison Bader continued his unlikely postseason long-ball barrage, which was enough to extend the Yankees' season. The Guardians had their chances to break through, but Cole dialed it up when he had to. Now, for New York, comes the hard part: navigating through an uncertain pitching puzzle in Monday's win-or-go home game. Meanwhile, the Guardians will turn to Aaron Civale but won't ask any more of him than he can give, as the top tier of the Cleveland bullpen will be working on two days' rest. The first few innings will be huge, because if the Guardians can get a lead to that bullpen, the pressure will be on the Yankees. It's going to be fun. -- Bradford Doolittle
