Twins recall Josh Winder, send down David Festa

The Minnesota Twins recalled right-hander Josh Winder from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

In a corresponding move, the Twins optioned rookie right-hander David Festa to the Saints.

Winder, 27, is 2-0 with a 4.78 ERA, eight walks and 28 strikeouts over 26⅓ innings in 15 games for the Saints.

Minnesota selected Winder in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB draft out of VMI. He made his major league debut in 2022 and is 6-7 with one save, a 4.51 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 32 walks in 34 games (11 starts) over parts of the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Festa, 24, made his major league debut June 27 and was 1-1 with a 10.80 ERA, eight strikeouts and one walk over 10 innings in two starts.
