A heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Brendan Schaub has been added to the UFC 181 pay-per-view lineup on Dec. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Browne (16-2-1) will look to rebound from a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Fabricio Werdum in April. Fighting out of Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA, the 32-year-old saw a three-fight win streak snapped in the loss.
Since signing with the UFC in 2010, Browne has compiled a record of 7-2-1, with six finishes. ESPN.com ranks Browne the No. 5 heavyweight in the world.
Schaub (10-4) suffered a split decision loss to Andrei Arlovski in June. The scoring of the bout came under scrutiny, as many observers felt Schaub won. Prior to the loss, he had earned back-to-back wins over Lavar Johnson and Matt Mitrione.
A former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter reality series, Schaub is 2-3 in his past five fights. He was knocked out in the first round twice in the span of eight months in August 2011 and April 2012, but has since rebounded with a 2-1 record.
A middleweight title bout between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort is scheduled to headline UFC 181.
