Report: Vitor Belfort to fight Nate Marquardt at UFC 212 in Rio

Brazilian UFC legend Vitor Belfort is apparently ready to make his final walk to the Octagon this summer.

Belfort (25-14) is reportedly set to face Nate Marquardt (35-17-2) at UFC 212 on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro. According to Brazilian news outlet Combate, both fighters have agreed to the contest, although the UFC has not yet confirmed.

Belfort, 40, has made it no secret he wishes to compete at the event and referenced a "last appearance" for the UFC in a social media post Sunday.

A former light heavyweight champion, Belfort fought for the UFC's middleweight championship as recently as 2015, but he's currently on a 1-4 skid. He has been knocked out in all four losses.

Training out of South Florida, Belfort enjoyed one of the best years of his career in 2013, when he went 3-0 with knockout wins over Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson. Those victories came while he was on testosterone-replacement-therapy (TRT), a practice that was banned in combat sports in 2014. Belfort has only one win since.

Marquardt, 38, has not fared much better as of late. He is 2-4 in his past six fights, with two losses via TKO.

A featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo (26-2) and Max Holloway (17-3) is scheduled to headline UFC 212, inside HSBC Arena.
