A win for Jedrzejczyk (14-0) at Madison Square Garden in New York City would tie Ronda Rousey's record for most consecutive title defenses (six) among female fighters.
Jedrzejczyk, ESPN's No. 2 pound-for-pound female fighter, is coming off a dominant unanimous decision victory against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211. Namajunas (6-3) has won four of her past five matchups, the most recent an impressive win against Michelle Waterson by rear-naked choke in the second round in April.
This is the third title fight on the UFC 217 card. Michael Bisping (31-7) will look to retain his middleweight belt against longtime champion Georges St-Pierre (25-2), who will fight for the first time since 2013. Cody Garbrandt is set to square off with former teammate TJ Dillashaw for supremacy in the bantamweight division.
