Sage Northcutt signs exclusive deal with One Championship

Former UFC lightweight Sage Northcutt, one of the brighter young talents in the sport, has signed an exclusive deal with One Championship.

One CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced the signing on Friday. Northcutt, 22, quickly confirmed it on social media.

"Please join me in giving a big welcome to multiple-time karate world champion, Black Belt Hall of Famer, and rising global mixed martial arts superstar Sage Northcutt to One Championship," Sityodtong wrote on Twitter.

Northcutt (11-2), of Katy, Texas, made an immediate splash in the UFC three years ago, when he recorded a 57-second knockout in his promotional debut at age 19. He went on to a 6-2 record overall in the UFC, with appearances at lightweight and welterweight.

Northcutt fought out his UFC contract earlier this year and, according to sources, fielded offers from multiple promotions. Ultimately, he becomes the latest high-profile martial artist to sign with the Asia-based promotion. Former UFC champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez have also recently signed with One.

Sityodtong did not reveal a potential date or opponent for Northcutt's debut.
