Dillon Danis receives 7-month suspension for role in UFC 229 brawl

Dillon Danis, a Bellator welterweight and training partner of Conor McGregor, received a seven-month suspension and $7,500 fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday for his actions at UFC 229.

The suspension, retroactive to October 6, will end on May 6, 2019. Following Khabib Nurmagomedov's fourth-round TKO win against McGregor, Nurmagomedov jumped out of the Octagon and into the stands at Danis, ensuing a brawl outside the cage.

Danis had to be physically held back from fighting Nurmagomedov and yelled obscenities at him, both playing a part in the sentence handed down on Monday.

McGregor was suspended for six months by the NSAC in January, making him not be eligible to compete until April 6. He was also fined $50,000. Nurmagomedov received a nine-month suspension and fined $500,000. He can return to the Octagon in July but has said he does not want to fight again until the fall.

Danis, a top jiu-jitsu practitioner, has only fought one time professionally in MMA, defeating Kyle Walker by first-round submission last April.
