Top strawweight title contenders Nina Ansaroff and Tatiana Suarez are set to fight at UFC 238 on June 8, the promotion confirmed to ESPN on Monday. The matchup, first reported by the Chicago Tribune, could see the winner compete for the division's belt later this year.
A flyweight bout between Joanne Calderwood and Katlyn Chookagian will also be on the card.
Ansaroff, listed with Suarez as the No. 3-ranked strawweight contenders in the world, has won four consecutive fights. She's coming off a unanimous decision win against former title challenger Claudia Gadelha in December. Suarez (7-0) is one of the sport's fastest-rising prospects. She most recently dominated former champion Carla Esparza, finishing her by third-round TKO in September. Suarez is a two-time bronze medalist in the world championships of freestyle wrestling.
Calderwood, of Scotland, has won two in a row. She defeated highly touted Ariane Lipski by unanimous decision in January. Chookagian will look to rebound from a split decision loss to Jessica Eye in December.
The main event of UFC 238 has not been set. A flyweight title fight between titleholder Valentina Shevchenko and Eye is being targeted for the card, multiple sources told ESPN.
