UFC 245 has its second title fight.
Featherweight champion Max Holloway will put his title on the line against Alexander Volkanovski on the Dec. 14 card in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN. The fight was first reported by The Daily Telegraph in Australia.
A women's bantamweight title fight between champion Amanda Nunes and Germaine de Randamie has already been booked for the card. The current plan is to add one more title fight, but that fight isn't locked in and the promotion is currently exploring multiple options, sources say.
The UFC is still holding out hope the third title fight will serve as the main event. Fights discussed have been a third meeting between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, a welterweight title bout between champion Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington or a light heavyweight title bout featuring champion Jon Jones.
Hawaii's Holloway (21-4) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Frankie Edgar in July. He has been itching to fight in Las Vegas, which Hawaiians refer to as a the "Ninth Island," since his last fight there in 2015. He was scheduled to defend his featherweight title in Las Vegas against Brian Ortega last July but pulled out of the fight just days beforehand due to illness. "Blessed" has won 14 of his last 15 fights.
Volkanovski (20-1), of Australia, has won 17 consecutive fights, including seven straight in the UFC. His last three victories -- over Darren Elkins, Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo -- were particularly impressive.
The event will take place at T-Mobile Arena.
